Written on the back of this photo: "Ruth Bullock, age 4." That would place the photo around 1888. What an elaborate dress for a four-year-old! And someone has taken great pains in curling her hair.
And here she is again with baby sister Etta.

There is no date on this, but Etta doesn't look as if she's had her first birthday yet, so we're probably talking 1891 or 1892. Who would have guessed that baby Etta would grow up to be a beauty?
