It is very difficult to photograph a barn swallow in flight. I've been trying.

I find these very impressive! My husband who is a birder would be very jealous. It's hard enough to take a photo of one perching. We have hummingbirds in our yard--your next challenge!
Thanks! It's only because they happened to build their nest so close to my kitchen window that I've been able to take those pictures. For some reason, the swallows don't care how close I get to them as long as that window is between us. Outside, on the other hand, if I get within about 15 feet of the nest, they fly away.
Hummingbirds fly away even if the window is between us, unless I hold perfectly still.
