I started this blog one year ago today. Over the course of the year, on the many occasions when I've wondered if it's not pointless and perhaps downright insane to spend so much time and money on something that very, very few people will ever care about, I've gotten into the habit of saying to myself, "What the heck, just give it two years and see what happens."
So I've got another year to go, for sure.

Go for it! Your readers love it!
Thanks, I will. I'm having fun with this even if it is pointless and insane. :D
I just found your blog about a month ago, and I am hooked! I check it every day. You are a good writer, and a great storyteller! Thanks so much for all your hard work.
I have always loved history and have always found the history of the area that I grew up in very interesting yet very hard to come by. Both my parents are gone now and I never met my grandparents. So many questions I should have asked but didn't. So I have to slowly piece together my family's past and so much of it involves the Hobart area.
I love the details on this site--yes, even the plants--I look for them in Oregon! (And have found lots of them.) There are a lot of things I wished I could have experienced from the "good ol'days" and a lot I'm glad I've never glad I've never had to deal with. This site shows it all in a way that readers can get a true idea of what life was like in those days.
I'm hooked!
Many thanks for the kind words, folks. It's nice to know there's at least a few people besides me interested in this stuff.
