What Do You Say to a 15-Pound Mangel-Wurzel?

Anything you want to. It can't hear you, you know. Personally, I say "No, thank you."

Remember Charles Gernenz and his domestic difficulties in 1901? Now we've gotten to 1909, and apparently life is going more smoothly for him: all he has to complain of these days is that some of his mangel-wurzels weigh 15 pounds.

Oh, wait, he's not complaining — he's bragging. And he says he intends to raise four acres of them in 1910. That's a lot of wurzel-mangeling. Good luck, Charles!

I love this, hearing about your great great grandfather is cool.
