Circa 1910, and 2010

"Main Street," indeed. I don't know whether to laugh or cry.
I think the top photo dates to between 1905 and 1910, the latter being the date of postmark. We're looking westward at the intersection of State Road 51 and Ainsworth Road. (I don't know which of them was considered "Main Street.") We already know what that building is on the far right — the saloon, and it looks like somebody's parked his horse and buggy to go in and wet his whistle. And behind the saloon is the blacksmith shop and dance hall. Behind that are some buildings whose purpose I don't know.
At left is William and Carrie Raschka's general store. The reason I think the photo was taken after October of 1905 is because the west end of the store looks like a 20' x 50', two-story addition, and just such an addition was built to the original structure at that time.
The house behind the store is still there. It's for sale at the moment, and the real estate listing says it was built in 1869. I can't see the house right behind that one clearly enough to tell if it's also the same one there now.
But further down the road on the south side is the Foreman farmhouse, which is still standing.
