Trains westward to Chicago stopped in Ainsworth at 6:27 a.m. and 10:50 a.m. daily except Sunday, while the daily expresses passed through around 6:15 a.m. and 4:20 p.m. but did not stop.
Trains eastward toward Michigan stopped in Ainsworth 10:50 a.m. and 7:37 p.m. daily except Sunday; expresses passed through daily around 5:10 p.m. and 10:10 p.m.

Ah, I should've read just a bit further in your blog because I contributed a comment to your post above about a 1951 GTW atimetable and now I see that in this 1887 GTW timetable trains did, in fact, stop in your bleoved Ainsworth.
It is extremely common for place names to live on in railroad parlance even after their outward reason for being is gone.
