How to Die in Lake County in 1908

In the first six months of 1908, an even 100 people died in Lake County:

Male
Drowning6
Suicides6
Homicides6
Killed by trains26
Other accidental deaths18
Due to natural causes25
Total87
Female
Accidental1
Homicide1
Due to natural causes11
Total13
Grand total100

As I've said before, trains killed an astonishing number of people. Primarily men, it seems, although I've read a few reports over the years of women dying that way (which I didn't make notes of because they weren't Ainsworth women).

Not one female suicide, though.

Too bad they didn't expand on the suicides to show whether hanging was still the preferred method.

I'm glad you're enjoying it. Yeah, "freaky" is the word for that Klan parade. The photo I used was one of two taken of that same parade and donated to the Hobart Historical Society by a local newspaper. They are both in the Ku Klux Klan file at the Museum.
