Betty Reed was working at midnight — when did she get to sleep? And then this jerk hits her! His fine was about $177 in today's money.
I didn't keep track of the exact dates for these next two Gazette articles, but they were from the spring or summer of 1953.

Was he stealing paper towels?
It might have been one of those long cloth towels on rollers that used to be in public bathrooms. I never really understood how those worked. I mean, were they really, really super long, or was the cloth one big loop so it kept getting re-used? (yuck)
I think they were on a loop lol.
