Cressmore Grove Cabins

Here's something useless that I bought on eBay.

I can't do a then-and-now shot because I don't know exactly where these were. Probably somewhere near the Cressmoor Country Club, I'm guessing, but that doesn't help much for purposes of photography.

The postcard is unused and undated, and the reverse is not illuminating. However, according to this website (and what a lot of work must have gone into compiling that chronology!), since the card has a silver border and a serial number beginning with the letter G, it was probably printed circa 1939-1941.

After consulting with several other people, we pretty much agree that these buildings were in what is now the Cressmoor trailer court with its entrance facing Route 6. If this is correct, then Wisconsin Street would probably be on the left of the gas station, although it isn't visible in the picture.

The description on the picture says: US 6 3 mi from Gary

I is correct that this is the present location of the "Cressmoor Park"; but the gas station was part of the park at that time. Wisconsin street is further to the West of the gas station shown.

Thanks for the comments (and I apologize for taking so long to respond -- my comment notification system got messed up). That location does sound likely, since it accounts for the "Cressmore" in the name, and also matches the description on the card.
